Greens attack plan to charge non-EU visitors for NHS care

EXTENDING charges for overseas visitors and migrants who use the NHS risks “normalising” fees for healthcare, the Green Party said yesterday.

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has launched a consultation on widening a “cost recovery programme” under which non-EU visitors are charged for hospital treatment.

They could also now be charged for visits to A&E, ambulance call-outs, prescriptions and other services under the plans.
