TRADE unionists and campaigners converged on Sheffield city centre on Saturday for a rally against austerity which united workers involved in different struggles.
Steelworkers fighting for their jobs in Scunthorpe and Rotherham, public service workers threatened with redundancy at the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) in Sheffield, firefighters resisting cuts and striking junior doctors all joined forces.
After marching to Sheffield City Hall, the protesters heard speakers including shadow chancellor John McDonnell and Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) general secretary Mark Serwotka.
