EU students being ‘used as pawns’
Thousands march against Tory attacks on university students

EDUCATION unions and students will take to the streets today to show their opposition to the government’s Higher Education and Research Bill and use of “EU staff and students as pawns in Brexit negotiations.”

Thousands of lecturers and students will gather in central London for what has been forecast to be the largest education demonstration since 2010 in protest at the government’s plans.

University and College Union (UCU) general secretary Sally Hunt will use her speech at the demonstration to urge Prime Minister Theresa May to “show some humanity, do the decent thing and stop using EU staff and students as pawns in Brexit negotiations.”
