Deja vu has struck Scotland once again as we have to watch another major football tournament from the sidelines.

The European Championships are in full flow and, with England, Wales, northern and southern Ireland impressing, the Tartan Army can only look back at the qualification campaign and ask how they failed to qualify once more.

It has been 18 years since Scotland graced a major tournament, that being the 1998 World Cup in France, and during that time there seems to have been a sense of predictability in coming so close and failing.
