THERESA MAY’S government has vowed to overturn a demand by the House of Lords to guarantee the residency rights of EU citizens, it was revealed yesterday.
The upper chamber defied Ms May on Wednesday night, voting with a majority of 102 in favour of an amendment which guarantees that EU nationals can live and work in a post-Brexit Britain.
The government described the result as “disappointing” while its sources confirmed on Thursday that it intends to undo the changes when the Bill returns to the Commons.
