KURDISH militia in the northern Syrian town of Kobane surrounded pockets of Islamic State (Isis) fighters yesterday following an assault on Thursday.
Kobane-based Kurdish activist Mustafa Bali said small groups of Isis militants were still in the town and had taken civilians hostage.
He added that People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia were now besieging three locations where Isis fighters had taken up positions.
