Turkey: Post-coup arrests continue despite criticism from EU
THE Turkish government has taken further draconian measures in the wake of Friday’s failed military coup, despite European Union disapproval.
The number of people detained has hit 9,000, with some 115 generals and admirals now facing charges — and possibly the death penalty.
On Tuesday, the government revoked the licences of 21,000 private school teachers and it has sacked or arrested half a dozen university chancellors.
