In Full View and A Clear Midnight (ECM)

“My music is about melody” is a principle which the German pianist Julia Hulsmann holds very dear.

Born in the turbulent year 1968 in Bonn, she started a life’s piano odyssey at 11 years old, forming her first band at 16. After she moved to Berlin in 1991 she became a part of the Bundesjugendjazzorchestra, before joining with bassist Marc Muellbauer in 1996 and drummer Heinrich Kobberling in 2001. They have been her trio stalwarts ever since.
