Activists in Hull to protest Asda's ‘unchecked profiteering’

CAMPAIGNERS and union activists will picket an Asda store in Hull today in protest as supermarket prices rise and hundreds of thousands of people face food poverty.

Union campaigning group Unite Community says supermarkets are profiteering, making billions in profits.

Asda’s profits more than doubled to £1.01 billion in 2021, while today 20 per cent of Hull residents — 53,420 people — live in food poverty, according to union research.
