Anti-racists to protest against Hopkins appearance in Leicester’s Athena
TARGETING RACISTS: Anti-hate protesters demonstrated last year against Reform UK using Athena for its conference

ANTI-RACISTS will hold a protest against Katie Hopkins being hosted at the Athena events venue in central Leicester tomorrow night.

Leicester Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) said that the disgraced former newspaper columnist’s “hateful and divisive comments go beyond the scapegoating of migrant and Muslim communities.

“We believe that her views and comments fuel hatred division and elitism.

“Leicester Stand Up to Racism believes that Islamophobia, racism, transphobia and bigotry are not welcome in our multi faith, multi-cultural and diverse city.”

Branch head Cath Lewis added: “Katie Hopkins does not represent the values of our city or of our many communities.

“SUTR and many different organisations in Leicester are proud of our city – its diversity and its history of migration is what makes it strong, what makes it beautiful, and what makes it unique.”

Leicestershire Police said that it was “aware” of the protest and “supports the right to peaceful protest.”
