Britain needs a plan, manufacturers say

BRITAIN’S lack of a “proper, planned, industrial strategy” is its “Achilles heel,” industry association Make UK warned today.

The manufacturers’ organisation has called for the government to set up a Royal Commission in an effort to build the long-term plan and political consensus it believes will provide the stability needed to grow the sector.

Make UK’s plea comes on the back of its survey of 300 manufacturers across the country, which appeared to show little confidence in government action to date.
