City College Norwich staff strike for better pay

STAFF at City College Norwich downed tools once again today to demand a pay offer which “protects us from poverty.”

The walkout, which will be repeated on Tuesday, follows bosses imposing a massively below-inflation wage deal worth just 2.5 per cent for some workers, according to the University and College Union (UCU).

The move, which prompted two one-day strikes earlier this year, ended the college’s accreditation as a real living wage employer and followed more than a decade of take-home pay cuts amounting to a 35 per cent reduction, it warned.
