ENGINEERING construction workers are set to pocket a “significant cost-of-living pay increase,” their union Unite hailed today.
Following negotiations with bosses signed up to the national agreement for engineering construction industry, staff across the sector will receive an extra £1 for every hour worked between today and June 30, the union said.
The deal, which came after a series of wage freezes and take-home salary cuts, will see the hourly supplementary rate set at 75p beyond that date, it confirmed.
‘People up and down the country are asking whose side is the Labour government on and coming up with the answer: not workers,’ Unite general secretary Sharon Graham says
