Government accused of ‘swimming against tide of own voters’ after poll shows overwhelming support for legal aid among Tory voters
THE government has been accused of “swimming against the tide of its own voters” after a new poll revealed overwhelming support for legal aid among Tory voters.
The Law Society of England and Wales survey of 2,000 people, released today, found that 84 per cent of Conservatives agreed that legal aid was a “good thing.”
This rose to 95 per cent for Labour voters and 97 per cent for Liberal Democrat voters.
