McDonnell calls for financial investigation into Javid's past
CHANCELLOR Sajid Javid’s past as a senior investment banker should be investigated for financial misconduct, John McDonnell urged the Prime Minister today.
The shadow chancellor wrote to PM Boris Johnson urging him to investigate immediately Mr Javid’s career, personal tax affairs and consider “whether he can be trusted with the secure stewardship of the nation’s finances.”
In his letter, he called on the PM to reconsider the fitness of Mr Javid to serve as chancellor given the need for “public confidence in the suitability and unquestionable integrity of the holders of high public office.”
