NHS staff to lead campaigners in protest against Tory sell-off

NHS staff will join campaigners and the public tomorrow to highlight the risks the health service faces under a Tory government.

The protest aims to send a clear message to the public that the Conservatives are not trusted on the NHS and will urge the next government to return the service to the protected status of a publicly owned and provided healthcare system.

Over a million people have signed an online petition entitled “Keep our NHS out of US trade deals.”

Dr Sonia Adesara, who started the petition on behalf of Keep Our NHS Public, said: “The wishes of the people are clear — they will not stand by whilst our NHS is sold off and dismantled.

“Let this million-strong petition serve as a warning to the next government that the NHS is not for sale. The new government would be wise to heed it.”

Protesters will gather at 1.30pm at the Conservative Party headquarters and march to 10 Downing Street to let Prime Minister Boris Johnson know the extent of public opposition on any future trade deals involving the NHS.
