SCOTTISH Labour’s Monica Lennon, who lost out to Anas Sarwar in this year’s party leadership election, has quit her front-bench position.

The MSP, who was the architect of legislation that made Scotland the first country in the world to make period products available free of charge, stepped down from her role as net-zero, energy and transport spokesperson on Thursday.

Announcing her resignation on Twitter, she said that it had been a privilege to serve Scottish Labour in spokesperson roles since 2016.
