Teachers union rejects ‘unacceptable’ Tory pay offer

TEACHERS in the NASUWT union have rejected the Tory government’s latest pay offer, warning it will exacerbate already plummeting morale across the sector.

More than two-thirds of teachers across England and Wales “disagreed or are angry” about the proposed award for 2022-23, which will see most educators get a below-inflation wage boost of just 5 per cent, according to the education union’s latest survey.

A large majority — 78 per cent in Wales and 72 per cent in England — said that the “inadequate and unacceptable” offer should be rejected.
