UCU members vote overwhelmingly to stand with trans and non-binary people

DELEGATES at the University & College Union’s (UCU) annual congress have voted overwhelmingly to stand with trans and non-binary people.

Union members gathered at Glasgow’s SEC Centre backed two motions on Monday that committed the union to mobilising in defence of the trans community.

Delegates condemned Tory ministers and the right-wing press for “stoking a culture war that uses trans and non-binary people as a political football” and commended the Scottish Parliament’s passing of the Gender Recognition Reform Bill.
