Underpaid staff at Barnet and Southgate College set to vote on renewing strike action

UNDERPAID staff at a north London college forced to rely on foodbanks are set to vote on renewing their strike mandate, the University and College Union (UCU) announced today.

The three-week ballot, which opens on Wednesday and runs until March 31, comes after bosses at Barnet and Southgate College imposed a massively below-inflation pay rise of just 2.5 per cent for 2022-23.

The employees have already downed tools for three days in recent weeks, but Tory anti-worker legislation requires the union to re-ballot staff every six months.
