University staff renew strike mandate for another six months

UNIVERSITY staff renewed their strike mandate for another six months following a historic ballot result announced by their union UCU today.

Thousands more staff voted Yes for strike action in their pay and pensions disputes as the vote was up on previous ballots. 

In the pay and working conditions ballot, the Yes vote for strike action was 85.6 per cent and the turnout was 56.4 per cent.
