TRADE unions and politicians praised legislators in Scotland today after a law aimed at improving protection of shopworkers was passed at Holyrood. 

The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (Usdaw) welcomed the approval of the Protection of Workers (Retail and Age-restricted Goods and Services) (Scotland) Bill on Tuesday night, following a joint campaign with Scottish Labour MSP Daniel Johnson. 

The law was passed unanimously by MSPs after the backing of the Scottish government was secured. Usdaw is now urging Westminster to follow Holyrood’s example.
