LEFT Latin American leaders hit back at US imperialism at the UN general assembly in New York on Tuesday, condemning the use of sanctions to undermine governments and an economic order rooted in exploitation.
Bolivian President Luis Arce said powerful countries felt they could deploy sanctions to influence governments regardless of the “hunger and suffering” this caused.
“In the current world situation, no country should be persecuted, sanctioned or cornered for exercising their right to freely determine their own political, economic and social systems,” he declared.
