Institutional barriers hold back working class staff in colleges and universities, finds UCU report
THREE in five working class staff in the further and higher education industries feel that their class hinders recruitment and career progression, damning research published today shows.
The University and College Union (UCU) said its report reveals that working-class employees in colleges and universities experience class discrimination.
About half of the 4,000 people surveyed — UCU members working in adult, further, higher and prison education — identified as working class.
