Motion condemning Sir Keir for ‘boasting’ of sacking Leonard defeated at STUC congress

A MOTION condemning Keir Starmer for “boasting” of the sacking of Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard was defeated in a card vote at the STUC congress today.

The motion referred to an interview Mr Starmer gave to the Times newspaper on the third anniversary of him winning the Labour Party leadership.

Talking of having to make “some pretty ruthless decisions” since becoming leader, Sir Keir said: “We knew what we had to do with the general secretary. Look at Scotland, for example, now Sturgeon has gone.
