GOVERNMENT plans to build 75 new schools are as much of a myth as the promise to create 40 new hospitals, Labour said today.

The planned new “free schools” and specialist sixth-form colleges promised to create thousands of school places as part of the government’s levelling-up agenda.

Shadow education secretary Bridget Phillipson said: “Just like the Conservatives’ mythical 40 hospitals, there’s no plan to get these schools built or promised new places delivered. This is a government of empty promises.”
