‘Lives are on the line,’ Scot Labour warns as data shows scale of challenges facing the NHS

SCOTTISH Labour warned today that “lives are on the line” after new data revealed the scale of the challenges facing the NHS in Scotland.

Scheduled operations in November were still well below pre-pandemic levels with a decrease of almost 31 per cent in the number of planned operations, Public Health Scotland statistics found.

The data also revealed that delayed discharge from hospitals increased by 40 per cent since 2020.
