Murty out as Rangers make way for Gerrard
Graeme Murty

RANGERS sacked manager Graeme Murty with immediate effect today after Sunday’s 5-0 humiliating defeat to Celtic in the league.

The 43-year-old was appointed interim manager in October, following the sacking of Pedro Caixinha, and was placed in charge on a permanent basis until the end of the season following the Ibrox side’s failure to secure the services of Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes.

But, with three games to go in the league, as Rangers look to finish second in the league, defeat to Celtic on Sunday saw Aberdeen leapfrog the Glasgow side into second spot and Hibs go level on points with the beleaguered club.
