Fulham 1-2 Manchester United
at Craven Cottage

WHEN two teams as dependent on counter-attacking as Fulham and Manchester United meet, it can go one of two ways. A wealth of chances or a dearth of life.

The final match in the first of this two-part Premier League season was more the former than the latter.

This was as fast-paced as any of the football you’ll watch over the next couple of months. Do you really expect Japan v Costa Rica in Al Rayyan in a fortnight to have quite the same edge?

It will be 18-year-old Alejandro Garnacho’s last-minute winner for Manchester United that will deservedly make headlines, but Fulham more than played their part here; they deserved something without a shadow of a doubt.
