BASKETBALL: Bristol Flyers travel to Sheffield on Friday night hoping to draw a line under last week’s 92-64 thumping at the hands of unbeaten BBL leaders Leicester Riders, who face Cheshire Phoenix on Sunday.

Newcastle host Manchester Giants, who lost 84-77 to struggling Plymouth, on Friday night’s other fixture.

Glasgow visit Bristol on Saturday before bottom club Surrey Scorchers take on Sheffield and Manchester round off a weekend on the road at London Lions.

ICE HOCKEY: In a repeat of the last Challenge Cup final the Cardiff Devils will visit holders Sheffield in February’s semi-finals after they overturned a 4-2 first-leg deficit and smashed the Dundee Stars 6-1 on Wednesday night.

In the other semi, Belfast Giants will host the Nottingham Panthers, who lost 3-2 at Guildford but went through 6-5 on aggregate.

Both semi-finals will be decided over one leg due to fixture congestion.

IRISH PREMIER: Glentoran can move level on points with Irish Premiership leaders Linfield with a win at Crusaders in Friday’s Belfast derby.

The Glens continued a recent spell of superb away form after coming from behind to beat third-placed Cliftonville in their most recent outing.

Cliftonville travel to Larne on Friday’s other fixture desperately needing a win to reignite their title challenge. Linfield will host Glenavon on Saturday.

GERMAN BUNDESLIGA: Four teams from the second division are in the Pokal Cup’s quarter-finals draw after St Pauli overcame cup holders Borussia Dortmund 2-1 and their local rivals SV Hamburg, who they meet in the league Friday night, enjoyed an eventful win on penalties over Cologne.

Borussia Monchengladbach were shocked 3-0 at Hannover 96 and Karlsruhe won 1-0 at Munich 1860.
