Scottish families bereaved by Covid missing out on benefits owed to them

THE families of social and health care workers who died during the pandemic are “falling through the cracks” and are not receiving death benefits due to them, Scottish Labour said yesterday.

The Scottish government introduced a one-off benefit grant of £60,000 for “in service” carer deaths following a campaign by the party.

But Scottish Labour said less than half of those entitled to the benefits have received them.
