SPEEDWAY: Drew Kemp top-scored with 13+3 points riding at number six as Leicester Lions came from behind twice to brush aside misfiring defending Premiership champions Ipswich Witches 55-35 on Monday night.

Northampton bagged their first away point of the season after battling to a 45-45 draw with King’s Lynn in their bottom-of-the-table fixture.

King’s Lynn’s Max Fricke was the evening’s top scorer on 12 points.


MEN’S CRICKET: The battle for the remaining Twenty20 Blast quarter-final places continues in the Southern section with high-flying Surrey facing bottom of the pile Sussex and lowly Middlesex at Hampshire, while already qualified Northampton visit Glamorgan.

Derby play reigning champions Somerset and the competition’s most successful team, Leicester, meet Durham with all four still having a chance of reaching the last eight.  


MEN’S FOOTBALL: Twelve-time winners Spain take on Croatia in this afternoon’s first semi-final of the European Under-19 Championship at Central Park Denbigh.

The Spaniards maintained a 100 per cent record in their three qualifying group games, scoring 14 times without conceding.

Ukraine, who were also unbeaten in qualifying, are up against Germany in the other last four clash at Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground.


BASEBALL: Struggling Kansas City, who came into Monday’s game with this season’s second-worst Major League Baseball (MLB) record, smashed four home runs as they cruised to a shock 15-1 thumping of Philadelphia.

The Phillies are currently seventh in the 30-team MLB, nine games behind the table-topping LA Dodgers.

The Dodgers claimed an extra-innings 8-7 win over Colorado Rockies early this morning.
