UN denies involvement in White Helmets evacuation from Syria

THE UN has denied playing a role in the controversial evacuation of pseudo-humanitarian group the White Helmets from Syria into Jordan last weekend.

Stefane Dujarrik, a spokesman for the UN secretary-general,  told a press conference on Monday that the organisation was not involved in giving 420 members of the fake NGO safe passage out of the country after they were surrounded by Syrian troops.

“We have nothing to do with this process of moving out [the White Helmets].

“We are very grateful to the Jordanians, who with such generosity and hospitality accepted these 422 Syrians,” Mr Dujarrik said.

Britain, Canada and Germany are believed to have offered sanctuary to the White Helmets and their families under relocation plans although there are no details of the numbers each country will take in.

Syria’s supreme mufti Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun branded the White Helmets “war criminals” and called for Russia and the Syrian government to take action against them.
