University workers win full pension restoration after year-long dispute

UNIVERSITY workers have won the full restoration of their pensions in a “historic victory” following a bitter dispute lasting more than a year and almost 70 days of strike action.

Workers lost up to 35 per cent of the value of their pensions after cuts were made to the Universities’ Superannuation Scheme pension (USS) in 2022.

But disputes between workers and employers on the scheme go back much further.
