Argentina ‘will not hand Morales to Bolivian coup regime’
ARGENTINA has confirmed it “will not hand over for any reason” Bolivia’s ousted president Evo Morales despite coup authorities in his homeland putting out a warrant for his arrest.
President Alberto Fernandez said that Mr Morales, who was overthrown by the army following his re-election last month, had his full support and that he had contacted him to assure him he would be protected from the “de facto government” in Bolivia. Mr Morales’ security would be increased, the president said.
Another government official said “the entire request for [Mr Morales’s] detention is a farce.”
