LUIS ARCE was sworn into his role as the new Bolivian president today as the Andean country returned to a left-wing leadership.

The Movement towards Socialism (MAS) party was victorious in October’s general election, with over 55 per cent of the votes in favour of Mr Arce.

Former president Evo Morales of the MAS was ousted in a US-backed military coup in November 2019 amid unfounded allegations of election fraud.
