NICARAGUA recalled its ambassadors to Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Costa Rica for consultations on Monday as it warned against continued interference in its domestic affairs.
President Daniel Ortega said in a statement that the officials had returned to Managua and criticised actions by foreign governments.
The recalls came in response to similar moves made by the four countries which have raised concerns over what they say is a clampdown on democracy in the Central American country.
