BRITAIN is one of four European countries whose envoys have been summoned by Palestine after voting against a United Nations resolution calling for investigations into Israeli abuses during its recent bombing of Gaza.
The ambassadors of Austria, Britain, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic were handed strongly worded letters of protest on Tuesday, demanding answers from their respective foreign ministries for their action.
The motion tabled by the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation and the Palestinian delegation to the UN, was passed by the 47-member UN human rights council last Thursday, with 24 states in favour, nine against, and 14 abstentions.
