Roussel re-elected as general secretary of the French Communists

FABIEN ROUSSEL was re-elected as general secretary of the 42,000-strong French Communist Party today.

At the end of the party’s four-day 39th Congress in Marseille, Mr Rousel was re-elected to the position he has held since 2018 with 80.4 per cent of the vote.

During his closing speech Mr Roussel said he aspired “to be worthy of the trust” of the party membership.
