Two weeks of strike action over Strathclyde university pension attack
HUNDREDS of Strathclyde University workers will take two weeks of strike action next month over a “cash grab” pensions row, Unite said today.
Union members say they are at risk of losing thousands of pounds a year if the university moves them into an inferior superannuation scheme.
It follows a “cynical attempt” by the university to amend its initial detrimental pension proposals without consulting the union, and is said to be part of plans for the university to access a pension surplus of nearly £100 million.
