At least two dead following clashes with police during anti-government protests in Bangladesh
Activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party run after clashing with police during a protest in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023.

AT LEAST two people died in clashes with police today during anti-government protests in Bangladesh.

The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) enforced a three-day transport blockade across the country to demand Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and the transfer of power to a non-partisan caretaker government to oversee general elections next year.

Ms Hasina ruled out dialogue and warned the opposition of the consequences if they continue the blockade.
