THREE Scottish Labour front-benchers, including its deputy leader, have come under fire for signing a letter demanding short-term let (STL) regulation is delayed.

Jackie Baillie, Mark Griffin, and Daniel Johnson joined forces with SNP’s Fergus Ewing, two Lib Dems and the entire Tory group to demand and extension to the October 1 deadline to register for the new scheme, which seeks to regulate short-term lets, such as those available on popular rental site Airbnb, via the planning process.

Responding on BBC Radio Scotland, SNP housing minister Paul McLennan called on “everyone to get behind the task of encouraging and supporting short-term let operators to apply for a licence in good time and before the October 1 deadline.”
