DANIEL KEBEDE is set to become the general secretary of the National Education Union (NEU) after winning a ballot of members, the union confirmed today.

The qualified primary school teacher will become the first sole leader of the NEU when he replaces joint general secretaries Dr Mary Bousted and Kevin Courtney on September 1.

In a joint statement, they offered their “warm congratulations” to Mr Kebede, who was the union’s national president between 2021 and 2022.
