South Sudan deploys 750 soldiers to eastern DRC

SOUTH SUDAN deployed 750 soldiers to the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday.

They will be joining troops from Kenya, Burundi and Uganda as part of an East African Community force to quell heavy fighting between the DRC and M23 rebels.

South Sudanese President Salva Kiir urged soldiers to keep the order and protect civilians as they prepared to leave the capital, Juba.
