Tory and SNP ministers allowing small businesses to ‘go to the wall,’ Scottish Labour warns

BOTH Tory and SNP ministers are allowing businesses to “go to the wall” in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Scottish Labour warned today.

The charge came after Scottish government figures showed that the number of registered businesses north of the border is falling for the second year in a row — plummeting by 4,285 since 2020.

Shopper numbers in November also slumped by 15 per cent on pre-pandemic levels — more than the British average of 13.3 per cent — according to separate data from the Scottish Retail Consortium.
