SCOTTISH leaders have condemned Kwasi Kwarteng’s “morally bankrupt” mini-budget, warning it rewards bankers at the expense of plunging millions into poverty.

Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar said the Chancellor’s plans, which include axing the top rate of income tax for the highest earners and scrapping bankers’ bonuses while adding restrictions to the benefits system, “demonstrate whose side the Tories are on.”

“It is economically illiterate and morally bankrupt,” Mr Sarwar said.
