Scottish Labour calls for rent freezes and fare cuts to deal with spiralling cost-of-living
Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar

SCOTTISH Labour leader Anas Sarwar demanded emergency legislation from Scotland’s government today to help deal with the spiralling cost of living.

Mr Sarwar said there should be a winter evictions ban, rent freeze, cancellation of school meal debt, halving of rail fares and a cap on the cost of bus journeys.

He also said there should be additional cash for “bridging payments” for children in receipt of free school meals and support for businesses.
