Syrian crisis ‘like nothing we've seen,’ leading humanitarian group warns

THE economic crisis in Syria is like nothing seen before, a leading humanitarian aid organisation warned yesterday as it appealed for urgent financial support. 

The Norwegian Refugee Council issued the plea ahead of the sixth Brussels pledging conference saying the survival of millions depends on how much funding will be made available. 

At least 87 per cent of Syrians are skipping meals in order to be able to meet other basic living costs, the NRC said, blaming crippling US sanctions.
