CAMPAIGNERS accused the Tories today of “devastating” the fire service and leaving the public with “fatal safety laws” that contributed to the Grenfell fire, as the inquiry into the disaster continues.
Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis, who was minister with responsibility for fire safety from 2016 to 2017, became the first politician to appear as a witness at the Grenfell inquiry today.
The hearing was set up to examine the circumstances leading up to and surrounding the fire at Grenfell Tower in London on the night of June 14 2017.
