Kent Uni students occupy building in solidarity with striking lecturers

STUDENTS at the University of Kent are occupying a building in solidarity with their lecturers taking part in industrial action over poor pay and cuts to their pensions.

The students took part in the second day of a sit-in at the Grimond building today, refusing to allow any staff or campus security to gain access.

Their demands include no compulsory redundancies for the next three academic years, an increase in pension support for lecturers, and other demands in tandem with the ongoing industrial actions by the University and College Union (UCU).
